hate when this happens!

And another thing ...
I have to confess that a similar affliction occurs when I go to see a film at a movie theater. By the time all the commercials, promos and previews go on, I have to be reminded about what movie I'm there to see! Ever have that happen? :)

Hope you can find fun ways to use this.
All the best,
Melanie

500th post

500 posts on this blog! I didn't think about that when I prepared today's word art. PROMISE! I was actually thinking of the many ways a day can become "my day in the sun," but of course you can use it the word art in the literal sense as well. :)

Thanks for the continued birthday wishes! What a nice surprise to come back to after a quick visit to my Mom's house the past couple of days.

Hope your day is very special!

what mess?

This is what kids say when you want them to clean their room. The toys they've been playing with all day, somehow are invisible to them when it's time to put them away. :)

Hope you can find a use for it.

THANKS FOR ALL THE BIRTHDAY WISHES!

blog notes behind today's word art

So, during the middle of the night, my husband rolls over to say "happy birthday." And, of course, this morning, he didn't remember doing that, and didn't remember that it was my birthday today. There are rarely any surprises -- which is okay -- because he usually tells me a day or two (or more) before my birthday what he's doing for me, or not. Don't know why he does that, but it always lets a little air out of the birthday balloon. LOL I don't get mad about it, and in fact, had planned for a "treating myself" day. Translation: taking myself out to breakfast and treating myself to a movie. [Aren't I a "cheap date"!!]

Actually, to me, our upcoming trip to visit his family in England is plenty of birthday present for me. I just love to go there, and this time, we're taking my younger sister and her husband, whom have never been. We're really looking forward to it, and I'm already working on packing a gift set of word art to tide you over while I'm away from my computer. So, look for it!

When I came across today's quotation used in the freebie word art, it seemed just right for how I remember feeling about birthdays when I was younger. There was something magical about the world the moment you woke up. Can't explain it, but I bet you know what I mean.

KimB surprised me again by posting more of my layouts on her blog. My sister-in-law wanted a photo of herself with her dog, Izzy, and KimB's wonderful new MEZZALUNA kit was a fabulous background to illustrate it.

I used MEZZALUNA for this layout as well. I highly recommend it, plus it's 25% off right now!

If today is your birthday, too, then have a great one!!!

All the best,
Melanie

surprised me

I was so shocked to learn yesterday that this layout of mine won layout of the week at DSO!! It was made for my participation in the Quote Challenge.

A very nice surprise to end a very busy week, in which I had had no time to scrap.

Speaking of smiles :), here's your gift for today:

have a blessed day,

the voice

My 8-year-old great-nephew is still visiting us; he leaves today. We'll miss him, definitely. But I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW OFTEN I'VE SAID THIS DURING HIS VISIT!!!

And how well I remember having to tell his mama (my niece) the same thing when she was little. Hmmmm...come to think of it, I also recall my mom telling my sister the same thing when we were growing up. Looks like it's THE VOICE: THE NEXT GENERATION. ;) Lots of love in those higher decibels, though. LOL

So, how is your day so far?

Best wishes,

Melanie

no-brainer

My 8-year-old great-nephew is staying with us for a few days. He's such a smart little guy and growing like a weed at the moment. As with all children, sometimes they say something that makes you laugh. Yesterday afternoon, to combat the rising temperatures outdoors, we were splish-splashing around in the pool, goofing off, talking about "stuff" and just having some fun. I had a huge belly laugh, though, at one point when he told me that something was a NO-BREATHER instead of a no-brainer.

So funny!

Thought I'd share this "no-brainer" quotation today, with the pending approach of Father's Day here in the US:

Hope you have a great Tuesday!

Guilty Pleasures

One of my guilty pleasures is taking time to read when I know the dishwasher needs emptying and filled back up again. Another is having dessert BEFORE the meal just because it's chocolate! Know what I mean?

What's your guilty pleasure?

Hope you have fun with this one!

think twice

KimB posted one of my layouts on her blog! That's a badge of honor!!

I used her new collaborative kit, Angels Tears, [with the very talented Jenni at Chaos Lounge] which can be purchased at DSO.

The story behind this layout is that this is a photo of me at age 4, sitting in a rocking chair at my grandparents' house, looking at a photo of a movie star whose hair was the same light reddish brown as mine.

Here's your gift for today:

Blessings on your day,
Melanie
