What an Understatement!

I loved that this quotation was something said by the eloquent Jane Austen. I need to remember the "state of inelegance" description instead of something more earthy like "sweating like a mule" or "dripping wet." I know that women aren't supposed to sweat, but rather, we "glisten." The only time I "glisten" delicately is in the dead of winter when I make the transition from the cold outdoors to the warm indoors.

Long Overdue

Okay, okay ... I know this has soooooooooooo much green in it, but the theme of the quotation just called for it. I promise it's more legible when when you get it full size.

I realized this morning that I hadn't thanked my readers lately and that expressions of gratitude are long overdue. More of you are leaving comments now and I have to say that it's highly motivating when you do. It keeps me from feeling as if I'm working in a vacuum and sending word art into a black hole somewhere. Your encouragement through comments is delightful, and for those of you who make donations, a godsend. Thank you so very much.

I'm already in a holiday mode so I'm not sure how productive I'll be at work today. It's kind of quiet so I've been spending time sorting through paperwork and files and sending things to the recycle paper bin. My assistant is frustrated with me, but I reminded her today that it could be a lot worse! She's not really grumpy, just pretends to be.

Baseball, Beaches & Barbecues

In my extended family, "baseball-ese" is to be spoken in ALL CAPS at all times. But there's something about June that bring back the fondest memories, for me, when it comes to baseball. My brothers played baseball and we never missed a game in their summer leagues. Then my siblings’ sons and daughters played ... and now my sister's oldest grandson is playing T-ball. He has a great attitude about not missing practice or games because he wants to be there for his team. Unfortunately, those little ones are already faced with learning the "politics" of the sport, when the coaches forget that those precious adults-in-training need to be learning the love of the game, and about sportsmanship. How to win and to lose. How to focus on the rules and where to stand as opposed to their natural tendency at that age to lay down and take a nap in center field during the third inning. Or to use their gloves to try to catch fireflies instead of high flies. :) Baseball, beaches and barbecues are upon us. June is here! And so is a part 2 of the Summer Check paperpack I started a few days ago. Hope it adds some color to your day.

I know it's all-too-easy to talk about how quickly time passes, but I can't help it today. I'm feeling the winds of change rippling through my graying hair and can't do a thing about it! Okay, a little touch-up with the help of some sort of Clairol product can help the "graying" part. Guess we'll just have to latch on to something and hang on as the pages of the calendar zip by before our eyes!

I've done a few simple papers that I hope can highlight those colorful summer photos you're waiting to scrap. I finally got around to setting up my WACOM tablet and am already enjoying fiddling around with it. Such a luxury to do something you enjoy, and practicing on this isn't nearly as painful as practicing for piano lessons 30+ years ago!
