remembering our memories...or not

We used to tease my baby brother about his "remembering" things that happened before he was born. One of us older four siblings would relate an incident from the past and he would always chime in, with "I remember that." Showing the slides of photos my dad took always was a trigger for his "memories," and always gave us a chuckle. Then, of course, he actually did become part of those memories and we wouldn't change that for the world! Here's to you, baby bro!! Love ya.

silver linings

first on my monday list is to publicly thank Sonel (Sonel's Corner) for graciously providing me with my first blinkie! i'm posting it today finally because i just haven't been feeling like doing any extras since she sent it to me not long after my first wrist surgery. she used elements from my september quilt kit and added the razzle dazzle to make people take notice. i've never figured out how to make a blinkie, but certainly hope to some day. thanks, again, sonel for such a neat gift.

she also made a matching header, so i'm color-coordinated at last!

i've been blessed with many silver linings lately ... like being able to spend more time with Mom when she came to help be my extra set of hands during the Christmas holidays. she's still been regaining strength after the slow healing of her leg fracture last autumn -- and we spent a lot of time laughing and joking about the fact that between the two of us, we still didn't make a "whole" person!!

today's wa about moms with middle-age children is dedicated to her.

looks like my new blinkie isn't blinking, so i'll check to see what i did wrong.

Playing with a Full Deck

Thanks for all the special greetings yesterday. Yes, I'm doing better ... even after eating the sinfully delicious slice of cheesecake. And I was just joking about being "down" -- but not about the pesky toe thing. I don't think it's broken but my whole foot was swollen by the time I got home ... but only mildly painful. So my big birthday dinner with hubby turned out to be a small dish of macaroni and cheese (comfort food) as I elevated my foot.

My husband got me a really cool gift. It's called AmazonKindle, a portable, wireless reading device. Until recent years, I was an avid reader, and to make a long story really short, haven't had the spirit or inclination to go to bookstores. PLUS, my husband will divorce me if I purchase any more books after our last move when I had 100+ boxes of books to shuffle around!

Kindle allows me to order electronic books through Amazon.com/Kindle Store and downloads them to the gizmo to save until I can get around to reading them, without killing any more trees to do so. Don't get me wrong -- I still love the printed word, and won't entirely cease to buy books that I want to keep to reread, especially classics. But, like with scrapbooking, I'm a "hybrid reader" now thanks to my new playtoy. [PS: It's also one more thank that needs to be recharged ... ack!!!] So far, I've read 1.5 books on it.

Thanks so much for your kind comments about the layout I prepared of my niece, Madison. I have tons of photos to work with, so will probably share more.

I will gladly share your layouts as well, if you send them to me. Please.

Thanks for always bearing with me ... particularly to the faithful dozens who leave notes for me. I appreciate it more than you know.

Today's Gifts

Just dropping in to post the MMDC March Fabulously Add-On, to the DSO March Color Challenge kit I posted on my blog on February 29. KimB's color choices for this month are, as always, spot-on, and terrific for layouts as winter transitions into spring here in Texas. [We had snow yesterday, and it's in the high 60s today. Rainy and cold tomorrow. That's typical for March, except for the snow bit!]

[I could have made that sentence more awkward, but I didn't. :) ]

Kim Broedelet's excellent Grab Bag No. 7 came in helpful for the overlays used in this Add-on, plus the stitched flower. It's still on sale at DSO for a few more days; what a deal! I also used an Atomic Cupcake action for one of the two word arts in this little kit.

I did a quick layout of my niece and her middle son as they shared a quiet moment. I love the intimacy of these parent/child moments, don't you? It helps when they're so photogenic, too!!! Obviously, I used this add-on kit to prepare the layout.

Finally, today's word art is here, too. Sorry that I'm a little late in posting it, but .... well, it just IS! I loved this quotation, too, and hope you do as well.

Take time to do something kind for someone today. Random Acts of Kindness are some of the best currency around ... and one of the best gifts you can give yourself.
