50th Aloha

DSO's challenges are fun to me, and I confess, I haven't taken the time to look at other store forums. I know there are SOOOOOOO many talented designers out there in scrapbookland; however, I have a special place in my heart for those designers who have become friends. Kim Broedelet is a crack-up, and a gifted designer as well. I worked on her color challenge at DSO earlier this month than I did the past couple of months, so that's your freebie today.
As usual, there's a story behind it! The color palette selected was definitely different for a November kit, so I started thinking outside the box:
- my brother turns 50 this month...
- he's celebrating with a week-long cruise from Los Angeles to Honolulu...
- with another week exploring the islands...
- and Hawaii's celebrating its 50th anniversary as the 50th state in the United States of America.
Eureka! A theme!! And, on the odd chance that my brother and his wife actually share photos from their trip, I will have something I can use to scrapbook his 50th celebration. I based the elements on what I knew for sure they would be doing.
I had computer connection issues today so I'm behind on other things, but thought I'd get this posted this evening--better late than never.
Blessings on your day...evening...morning...whenever

Bomback on VACATIONS

Although I'm not going to have the privilege of a seaside vacation this summer, I yearn to be taking a trip -- especially while it's so hot and humid here. Vicariously, I enjoy reading all your blogs to see what others are doing, especially if they are in cooler climes! As most of you know, I enjoy using Erma Bombeck's slice-of-life humorous quotations sometimes, and today, selected two of them. They are her take on vacations. Hope you can use them! Even if your "beach" is in your backyard.
Click on the preview to download the set. (It doesn't matter where I travel, I always end up looking like my passport photo. Shabby Rumpled is the new Elegant, right???)

Blessings on your day!

Need a Vacation!!

I need a vacation so badly. A true postcard-writing, photo-taking, souvenir-grabbing, map-reading, wrong-side-of-the-road-driving vacation. Sigh. Heavy sigh.
To take my mind off of it, I decided to concentrate today on the word "rest." So, all those of you who have been on a holiday this summer (or winter, depending on your side of the hemisphere), or are on one right now, or are packing your bags ... just know that you have an extra passenger. I'm vicariously enjoying YOUR trips.
PS: This trick isn't working. I'm still wanting to fly away somewhere cool, calm, scenic ... well, you get the picture. PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT YOUR TRIPS.

Today is a Holiday

Well, I'm sure it is somewhere. I'm not in the mood to be in the office today, so I'm declaring it a holiday in one of my flights-of-fancy moments. It was helped along by today's freebie, which is something we often say in our family when we're on vacation.
DOWNLOAD I'd love to hear about it if you're able to use this in any way.
Hope your day goes well, and that everyone you love is safe and sound.
