it does matter

It still amazes me when I visit favorite blogs and scrapbooking sites how few people express appreciation for the gifts they're given in the form of free kits, word art, tutorials, advice, etc. Absolutely astounding. I know I get on this soapbox occasionally, but haven't done so in awhile.

For the faithful few who leave messages for me and my designer friends, I'm profoundly grateful. It makes me smile.

For the thousands of others who do not tell some absoltely extraordinary designers out there how much they appreciate their professionally designed 75+-piece kits they're giving away ... well, shame on you!!!

Pass it on!

Melanie

I've noticed that a higher-than-usual percentage of scrapbooking blogs have non-functioning comment pages, pages that simply don't load or never process comments. Perhaps it's because of the server strain that that blogs or the readers' computers are under as they're stretching their server to the limits.

Anyway, what do YOU consider acceptable comment etiquette? A thank you for every kit? For every section of the kit? An occasional general "I love your work, thanks"? If a person can't seem to get a comment page to load EVER, would you prefer that they simply not download that blogger's work? What are your thoughts?

Thank you for the great WA that you offer. I personally love to read the comments that are left when I offer a freebie. I enjoy reading the comments and knowing that someone actually appreciates and likes the freebies that I offer them :) . I always leave comments when I download someone else's designs and sometimes leave them even if I don't download the freebie they have offered.

first, thank you for sharing your AWESOME wa!!
second, i even notice, on some blogs, the number of FOLLOWERS don't even match the number of comments or thank yous! i know that in life, if i am given something, i say 'thank you' or even 'No, thank you' sometimes lol but cannot figure why it doesn't work similarly in blogland, for so many people. Sometimes, i leave a comment, even if i do not download! (shrugs shoulders) maybe it's just me! ;)
Thanks, again and have a WONDERFUL day! :)

Yes, a lot of people don't show their appreciation and it's sad. While I don't do it with every single kit someone gives out, I do always show my appreciation. However, I have noticed that with the rise in designers, some of them really have no clue how to set up a blog correctly and comments can't be left - or only left by people with a specific type of account. I have had those problems when trying to leave thanks but end up leaving nothing.

First of all Thank You to Melanie! I love adding creative text to my cards + pages and you have provided us with some lovely quotes, beautifully laid out!

Second - I too must say that I have had problems leaving comments on some blogs - especially as I do not have a blog myself and am not signed up with 4-share etc.

Thirdly, no I do not Thank at every kit if I download more than 1 in the same session - but I would thank at each visit - hope that's ok??

Finally - come on ladies - it's not hard to say thanks for all the hard work put in. I have even been know to use good, "old fashioned" email *LOL* to Thank when I can't leave a message ... Dawn (UK)

Hi Melanie,

Do hope you are well. Finally back on line after many computer problems. Really missed your word art. You have some amazing things here and I've always loved your site.

How's the hand? I will need to cruise through your blog to catch up. I do hope you are getting healed though x

I agree that so few people leave comments these days. I often contact through their email addy if they have nowhere on their blog to leave a message.

I have the priviledge of making some amazing friends by leaving messages and the friendship has gone on from there.

The scrapbook world is a wonderful place and very caring. People give their time and talent to create beautiful things for us and we should show our gratitude.

If it's a new site you are visiting then a message to cover several items would be acceptable but if you are going back at different times , how long would it take to say ty x

Some people just download straight off the email that's how they miss the blog altogether. that's very faceless and impersonal.

Keep creating dear Melanie because your loyal fans always appreciate everything you do.

All my love and angel blessings always xxxx

Oh, that happens sweetie and for any of us to get upset about it won't help...ask me..:-) I guess all that taught me is to appreciate the few I do get that say thank you. Most of them like to leave their comments on the 4shared download page and when you don't have those comments enabled, they won't bother going to your blog to post there. I don't like the 4shared comments as I like to reply to my thank you's or comments by going to the person's blog and giving my thanks there and when they don't have a blog, I would then give thanks on my blog. You'd be very suprised at how many blog owners doesn't even bother to thank their visitors like you do..:-)

Well, you are lucky to be so talented and having so many faithful visitors and downloaders that do appreciate you and I am one of them.

Thanks for the lovely wordart and for sharing your wonderful talent hon.

Hugs
